The more than 40 young persons with and without disabilities from Argentina -Buenos Aires, Chubut, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Salta and Santa Fe- and Uruguay, gathered at the First Youth Forum for Inclusive Education held in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on from the 31st May to 1st June, 2019, hereby declare that:
Young persons are the protagonists of our own education.
We have the write to have rights. To scream. To let our voices be a gift to our others.
We have the right to pleasure, to fear, to enthusiasm. To have a future. We have the right to be free and to be included in society.
We have the fundamental right to our own autonomy. To not be limited by external expectations.
We have the right to learn new things, to work for pleasure and to live our lives with dignity. We have the right to not see our autonomy and independence hampered by other people´s choices and barriers.
We have the right to be in schools, universities, institutions and cities that are accessible to us all. To have the tools and support we need to communicate and express ourselves freely. To have schools that are prepared and willing to welcome us all.
We have the right to make our own decisions. To choose without being coerced, following our own desires and respecting our own timing. To express our feelings and thoughts. To doubt, to make mistakes, to learn from them and enjoy the times when we do things right
We also declare that:
It is forbidden to sustain and feed taboos. It is forbidden to infantilize us. To feel disgust. To settle. To segregate.
Conventions, tensions and individual struggles are forbidden. It is forbidden to cause harm and to remain indifferent when others are harmed.
We express our commitment to keep working together, with confidence and joy. We will not renounce our rights. We have the power to change all that needs changing to build a more inclusive society.
